Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) - Sensitization and Formation of Maintenance Committees

Value Added Services (VAS) was engaged by Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) to spearhead the project: Sensitization and Formation of Maintenance CommitteesThe project was intended to sensitize and form maintenance committees for 37 community infrastructure facilities (early childhood, primary all age and basic schools, health clinics and feeder roads) in Kingston and St. Andrew, over a period of four months.  The focus of this project was to underscore the importance of adequate maintenance and to provide clear guidance and direction to facilitate the establishment of formal maintenance committees.
To achieve the stated objectives, VAS assembled a four member team headed by VAS' CEO Fabian Brown.
Commencing in November 1, 2008 to February 23 2009, a total of thirty four (34) workshops were conducted with close to a total of 400 community members. The team conducted concurrent workshops for the duration of at least two hours each utilizing a full participatory/interactive approach to engage community members while allowing for generous portions of question and answer sessions, brainstorming and general discussions. This was supported with the use of audio visual material and other aids such as flip-charts, handouts and pictorials.
