National Housing Trust’s Inner-City Project – Rescue Jamaica

Value Added Services was contracted to spearhead the components of the Rescue Jamaica Summer School project that spoke to the issues of proper etiquette and social graces in the form of an innovative, hands-on workshop, specifically tailored to appeal to its participants.

4 weekly three-hour sessions were conducted simultaneously at the Denham Town and Norman Manley High Schools during the period July 30th – August 17th, 2007.
Each session sought to encourage the prosperity of each individual which will take root firstly in themselves and then to their community, and by extension to the wider society.
With the direct and active involvement of each participant, the sessions were geared towards:

  • Developing a knowledge and understanding of the key issues of social graces and etiquette
  • Consolidating the knowledge of those students already exposed to similar information
  • Reinforcing positive behavioral change by applying lessons learned
  • Encouraging and equipping students to share the information with their peers
  • Promoting and enhancing positive self image and self esteem.
